After a three-race west coast roadtrip, NASCAR heads back east to its first short-track race of the season at Martinsville, the only track to host Sprint Cup races every year since the division’s inception in 1949.At 0.526 miles in length, Martinsville Speedway is the shortest track on the Sprint Cup circuit. Because of its size and shap 55-foot width, 588-foot turns (12 degrees of banking) and flat 800-foot straightaways  race cars rarely reach 100mph.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to Martinsville, Virginia for the STP 500 from the Martinsville Speedway this weekend. It will take a good car and an aggressive attitude to win this race. Kyle Busch knows exactly what it will take to win after securing a victory here a year ago. Busch has dealt with some bad luck in each of his last three starts. Perhaps this will be the week he finally breaks through as the defending champ at Martinsville. Here preview of this week’s NASCAR race.
