Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly adamantly disagreed with an offensive pass interference penalty that wiped away a go-ahead touchdown against Florida State, saying he had even less clarity Sunday than he did in the minutes after the 31-27 loss.Actually I have less clarity,” Kelly said during his Sunday teleconference. “I guess it was actually called on Will Fuller, not C.J. (Prosise). So [it] just adds more uncertainty as to the final play. But again, the play itself, in terms of what we ask our kids to do, it was pretty clear what happened on the play: Florida State blew the coverage and they got rewarded for it. It’s unfortunate.”

The Fighting Irish are currently sitting atop the ACC with a 16-2 record, including a 5-0 record in conference. The only losses for Notre Dame came from #1 Villanova and #15 Purdue, which they had both games back to back. Junior forward Bonzie Colson is the team’s leading scorer at 15.8 points a game, and has helped position the Fighting Irish to get a good seed going into the tournament. They still have some big games remaining on their schedule, but if they continue to keep up this level of play, look for Notre Dame to make a run in March.

For Florida State, they too have been playing very well this season, but are about to face their fifth-ranked team on their schedule with a sixth coming after this against #12 Louisville. The 16-2 Seminoles are led by their stellar backcourt of Dwayne Bacon and Xavier Rathan-Mayes, as well as freshman forward Jonathan Isaac. They’ve already beaten four Top 25 teams this year, including three straight at one point, and have already positioned themselves to get a tournament bid. Look for the Seminoles to make a little bit of noise once March rolls around, but before that, they must get through a tough ACC.
